Senior stray cat seeks loving home in Montgomery County

Powhatan (pictured at left) is a handsome brown tabby who was brought to the Montgomery County Humane Society in July as a stray. Perhaps no one will ever know how this kitty ended up living on his own, but he seems to have had lots of experience interacting with people. Since his arrival at the shelter, Powhatan (ID#A342537) has become a staff and volunteer favorite. He is very people oriented and loves to play with catnip mice and cat teasers. He is neutered and is about 9 years old, which makes him a “Golden Oldie”—Powhatan’s adopter can receive a coupon for $75 off a future vet visit, and if his adopter is a Montgomery County senior, that person can pay a reduced adoption fee.

Lakota (pictured in the accompanying slide show) also came to the humane society in July as a stray. Lakota (ID# A342535) is a female tortoiseshell who is about a year old. She is a petite and playful girl who loves to be petted and doesn’t seem to mind being around the other cats.
