Update 7/15/14: Yukon has been rescued!! The following information was shared with the National Dog News Examiner:

Yukon update~ After spending 5 weeks in a lonely concrete cage at our local shelter, Yukon has finally blown that popsicle stand and is headed north to Chicagoland Lab Rescue!

On Wednesday, the Facebook page Kentucky Animal Relief Fund reached out to find help for a senior Basset hound mix who is impounded at the Louisville, Ky., Metro Animal Services facility.

The elderly dog, named "Yukon," was picked up as a stray and he is growing increasingly depressed in his lonely kennel run. The following information was posted about Yukon on Wednesday:

He has been at the shelter for a month and has become very depressed and is not eating well.

I went to visit him today and he seemed very depressed and lethargic. He just laid there on his blanket and had no interest in getting up.

He appears to be 12-13 years old and weighs approximately 45 pounds. Shelter staff reports that he walks very slowly due to arthritis. He desperately needs out of the shelter.

If Yukon had an owner, that person has not come forward to claim him and it seems that the tired senior is now losing hope. Please take a moment to network Yukon's information and help him find a loving home to spend the rest of his life in.
