It was announced early this morning that senior defensive tackle Daniel Kane (Covina, CA) of the University of Redlands football team was named to the D3football.com All-West Region Third Team.
Following his First-Team All-Conference award, Kane receives his inaugural All-Region accolade with this year's nod.
Kane played an instrumental role in the Maroon and Gray's 7-3 overall season that culminated in the program's 29th Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) championship and seventh appearance in the NCAA Division III Championships. He recorded 44 total tackles, which included four tackles for a loss of 24 yards. Furthermore, Kane was one of just three Bulldogs to provide more than two sacks on the season, coming in at 2.5 for a loss of 19 yards. He also finished his final season at Redlands with two quarterback hurries, one pass break-up, and one forced fumble.
Overall, this team co-captain helped the Bulldogs to currently lead all of NCAA Division III in red-zone defense.
Kane is one of two representatives from the SCIAC, joining Chapman University's Justin LaLonde as an honoree.
