Senior Bowl survey shows Texans as desirable destination

The first sentence in the article caught my attention.

"Southern Cal will win next year's BCS championship, Urban Meyer will be a huge success at Ohio State and the Houston Texans are the most desirable NFL team to join."

Wait ... what?

That's what Tommy Hicks had to say in a recent article appearing in the Mobile Press-Register.

Hicks explained in the article that those were some of the findings of the Press-Register's annual Senior Bowl player survey. More than 40 players who took part in the Senior Bowl participated in the survey, according to Hicks, although some players did not answer every question.

If you go to the article and scroll down to question #8 you'll see this:

"If you could pick the NFL team that drafts you, what team would you choose?

Responses: Texans 4 votes, Falcons 3, Steelers 3, Raiders 3 (19 teams received at least one vote).

So the Texans are now a destination franchise.  Not by an overwhelming margin, mind you, but any pub is good pub right?  Take that, rest of the NFL.

Let's just not tell anyone that there were three Aggies (Randy Bullock, Jeff Fuller, Tony Jerod-Eddie) and three Longhorns (Keenan Robinson, Kheeston Randall, Emmanuel Acho) on the South roster and it's quite possible that's where most if not all of those votes came from.

But on the positive side, it's not like the Texans coaching staff was around Mobile and had any influence on the players during the week - they're all in Honolulu - but the Texans scouting staff was well represented at the Senior Bowl practices.

One could also ask why the teams represented by the coaching staffs of this year's Senior Bowl (Redskins and Vikings) didn't receive more votes.
