Mobile, AL. -

The 62nd Annual Senior Bowl, sponsored by Under Armour, will be held on Saturday at historic Ladd-Peebles Stadium in Mobile, AL. The game is made up of the best collegiate senior athletes from all over the country who were invited to perform for NFL coaches, scouts, and personnel who will compete against each other. The format is a North versus South matchup where colleges north of the Mason-Dixon Line comprise the North Team and the colleges south of the Mason-Dixon Line makeup the South Team.

The coaching staffs for each squad are made up of an NFL team's personnel and the Pros evaluate the collegiates all during the week. The Buffalo Bills staff will coach the South and the Cincinnati Bengals will coach the North. Each team practices at different facilities and prepares for the big game to be held on Saturday. There are events held for the players throughout the week and for the fans also. In addition, most everyone involved with the Senior Bowl helps out with the particular charities as part of the game.

This year, there will be no representative from either Ole Miss or Southern Miss playing in the Senior Bowl. While Ole Miss only had on 1 senior on the SEC All-Conference 2nd Team, Southern Miss had 2 seniors on the C-USA 1st Team, 2 seniors on the C-USA 2nd Team, and 2 seniors on the C-USA Honorable Mention Team. Mississippi State had 2 seniors on the SEC 1st Team and 1 on the 2nd Team.

The highest rated player for Southern Miss was DL Anthony Gray (C-USA 2nd Team) at #270 and ranked the 23rd best at his position. The next highest for USM was TE Johdrick Morris (C-USA 1st Team), though listed as a FB, at #724 and the 16th best player at that position. The highest rated senior for Ole Miss was DL Jerrell Powe (SEC 2nd Team) who is a 3rd round projection at #97 and the 12th best player at his position. The next highest for the Rebels was DT Ted Laurent at #305 and the 25th best player at that position. All rankings were provided by CBSSports.com's NFL Draft website.

The Bulldogs, on the other hand, will be represened in the Senior Bowl by DL Pernell McPhee, (SEC 1st Team), OL Derrick Sherrod (SEC 1st Team), LB Chris White (SEC 2nd Team), and LB K.J. Wright. Sherrod is projected as a 1st round draft pick at #21 and considered the 4th best player at his position. McPhee is listed to go in the 3rd round at #98 and is the 12th best player at his position. Wright is projected to go in the 3rd or 4th round at #106 and White is listed to go in the 7th round at #236 in the draft. All projections were provided by CBSSports.com's NFL Draft website also.

In contrast, the players mentioned from Ole Miss (except for Powe) and Southern Miss are all projected to sign as free agents, meaning they will not be drafted. So, there is the primary reason why no players from either school received an invitation to play in the premier College All-Star Division I football game. Fair or unfair, that is just the nature of the beast so to speak.

The game is set to be televised by the NFL Network and is scheduled to kick-off at 3 p.m. CST.
