Senator Steve Driehaus surprised the crowd and the honorees at the St. Mark 10th Annual MLK “Keep the Dream Alive” award ceremony with an unscheduled Congressional Proclamation and presenting each honoree with a commemorative certificate stating:

Certificate of Congressional recognition presented to all of the “Keep the Dream Alive” recipients, January 18, 2010.

On behalf of the congress of the USA and the citizens of the 1st congressional district of Ohio I would like to congratulate you for receiving the “Keep the Dream Alive” award. It is truly a distinguished honor. Throughout your accomplished career you have been a leader in advocating social justice and equality for citizens of all backgrounds. In pursuing excellence in all areas of your life, you have helped improve the quality of so many lives in this region.

I know that your friends, and all those you have touched throughout your journey are proud to see you receive this recognition. Thank you.  “You serve to lift up our neighbors and our community.
