In a press conference held at the state capital today, State Senator Russell Pearce announced plans to present a new bill that would prevent illegal aliens from taking advantage of a misinterpretation of the 14th Amendment of the Constitution of the United States of America. Fourteen states in total participated in similar press conferences across the country.
Joined by State Representative John Cavanaugh, and representing The State Legislation Coalition for Legal Immigration (comprised of 41 states) Senator Pearce outlined the reasons why this new bill is so necessary, not just for Arizona, but the nation as a whole.
The 14th Amendment reads, "All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside." As Senator Pearce so aptly pointed out, if the United States had "jurisdiction" (not meaning ability to arrest, but having authority over the persons in question) then when illegal aliens are arrested in the United States, law enforcement officials would not be required to contact, for example, the Mexican Consulate regarding these individuals. They would simply be held responsible for their actions according to the laws of the United States.
The reasoning for the 14th Amendment was not to give birthright citizenship to foreign individuals, but rather to give equal protection under the law to the newly freed slaves and their children-African-Americans. Currently, only 30 countries in the world, out of 194, offer birthright citizenship policies, among them being the United States and Canada. Other countries including Australia, Ireland, India, New Zealand, and Great Britain have all retracted this policy.
The purpose of this new law would be to remove all incentives for individuals who bear no allegiance to the United States to break our laws. When asked if this would cost taxpayers more money to fight the lawsuits that Senator Pearce is aware will be coming (when do we not get sued for trying to enforce our laws and preserve our way of life?), the Senator indicated that costs of not enforcing our laws are higher.
Illegal alien care and consumption in the State of Arizona is in the billions of dollars each year, much of it taxpayer dollars. The left seems to be concerned with taxpayer dollars only when those dollars are being used to stop the mess they have created.
"I will not retreat," Senator Pearce stated before ending the press conference.
And with November only a few short weeks away, neither will the American people.

you must be illegal to think that. stopping illegal immigration will cut down on so many other issues that are created from that one violation of law.
For the 15 million unemployed Americans looking for any job to feed and shelter their families, for the 43 million Americans now living in poverty, for the estimated million victims of rape and child molestation by illegal invaders illegal immigration is the major problem facing our country today. Only open border airheads and greedy criminal employers see the illegal invaders as a minor issue!

Quite the contrary. I thank you for the witch compliment. Made me warm and tingly. As to being a communist, hahahaha....I know that is a reverse psychology ploy to make me shrink and hide. However, I have studied the Holocaust and have read the accounts from such places as Auschwitz, Sobibor, and Dachau. I have seen the photos my mother brought back from Germany with her depicting the mass graves that contain so many ashes, they will continue to rise to the surface for the next hundred years. I wish to shove nothing down anyones throat, nor do I wish to have anything shoved down mine.
Nor do I condone being dictated to by people who claim to want a better life, and instead, are destroying the very things they are trying to steal.

OK. Let me try to figure this out. It is against the law to enter this Country ILLEGALLY. Correct? OK. However, if you do come into this country ILLEGALLY and have a child, we will reward that child with a U.S. birth certificate and make him or her a citizen of the United States, pay for the birth and get the child on welfare so the mother can get money to stay in this country...and that's not ALL! We will school that child and the child will get food stamps, the child will get FREE school lunches, and that's not ALL! The mother and the child can have FREE healthcare and get into public housing, and that's not ALL! The more children you have, the more money you will get. But keep in mind, it is against the law to enter this country ILLEGALLY! Do I have that right? OK. How do you feel about Birth Tourism?
