Senator Grassley on death panels, euthanasia, and pulling the plug on Grandma

Senator Grassley on death panels, euthanasia, and pulling the plug on Grandma

Adding to the growing controversy that the H.R. 3200 bill will establish death panels, promote euthanasia, and essentially ‘pull the plug on Grandma, Senator Grassley fueled the conspiracy theory’s flames with his comments yesterday. The term ‘death panels’ was used by Sarah Palin in a Facebook posting, however, since the time of her posting Fact Check organizations have discredited the claim as not being contained in the bill. Regardless, however, there is growing concern that if the reality of death panels is not immediate in the bill, the wording in H.R. 3200 text allows for the future possibility of death panels to be enacted.

Sarah Palin wrote, “The America I know and love is not one in which my parents or my baby with Down Syndrome will have to stand in front of Obama’s “death panel” so his bureaucrats can decide, based on a subjective judgment of their “level of productivity in society,” whether they are worthy of health care. Such a system is downright evil." Sarah Palin”

President Obama responded to the claim in his New Hampshire town hall meeting, “Let me just be specific about some things that I've been hearing lately that we just need to dispose of here. The rumor that's been circulating a lot lately is this idea that somehow the House of Representatives voted for "death panels" that will basically pull the plug on grandma because we've decided that we don't -- it's too expensive to let her live anymore. And there are various -- there are some variations on this theme.

It turns out that I guess this arose out of a provision in one of the House bills that allowed Medicare to reimburse people for consultations about end-of-life care, setting up living wills, the availability of hospice, et cetera. So the intention of the members of Congress was to give people more information so that they could handle issues of end-of-life care when they're ready, on their own terms. It wasn't forcing anybody to do anything. This is I guess where the rumor came from.”
Senator Grassley stated yesterday, during a town hall meeting in Iowa, “There is some fear because in the House bill, there is counseling for end-of-life," Grassley said. "And from that standpoint, you have every right to fear. You shouldn't have counseling at the end of life. You ought to have counseling 20 years before you're going to die. You ought to plan these things out. And I don't have any problem with things like living wills. But they ought to be done within the family. We should not have a government program that determines if you're going to pull the plug on grandma.”

To cause greater controversy, the man previously credited by President Obama for drafting the section, has come out publicly to say he didn’t create the wording in the bill. Republican Senator Johnny Isakson now takes issue with comments that he wrote the section being called into question.

Here is the video of Senator Grassley discussing death panels, euthanasia, and pulling the plug on ‘Grandma.”

Senator Grassley is finished. Who are these uneducated, pathetic losers who shout down civil discussion, hand-make 'Nazi' signs and make death threats against the president? The provision that the brain-trust of Palin, Gingrich and the likes of Grassley have tried so hard to deny your state's citizens was formulated by a Republican and simply makes provision for payment of the counselor who helps ANYONE who desires to make a LIVING WILL - a document that saved my sister and me from deciding on my dying mother's treatment since SHE HAD MADE THAT DECISION twenty years before in her 'Living Will' while a teacher in New Jersey. I plan to send money to Grassley's opponent in the coming election to punish him for taking this vital service payment (a service that has been available for decades) away from the people of your state. Cowards like Grassley should be pilloried at every opportunity.

Let's look at what Sarah Palin wrote: "The America I know and love is not one in which my parents or my baby with Down Syndrome will have to stand in front of Obama’s “death panel” so his bureaucrats can decide, based on a subjective judgment of their “level of productivity in society,” whether they are worthy of health care. Such a system is downright evil."

Hmmmmm, and she doesn't think the robbing bastards running the insurance companies are doing this? Seems to me "level of productivity" = ability to pay the premiums. And 30M can't pay - so the insurance industrie's "death panels" have decided they aren't worth of healthcare.

She is the stupidest bitch alive!!!!!!!!! Will someone please help the country and get her to shut up!
