Sen. Ted Cruz takes serious steps to becoming GOP presidential candidate

Tea Party favorite Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) has a new super-PAC and accompanying website operational since Wednesday which automatically skyrockets him into the ‘serious candidate’ category for the GOP presidential nomination.

Cruz now has the luxury of raising unlimited dollars (like Hillary Clinton did months ago) to help finance any possible presidential bid. He filed organizing paperwork with the Federal Election Commission last January, according to a Time Magazine report this week.

Georgia-based political consultant, Paul Kilgore, is listed as the owner of the website and will run Cruz’s campaign. He is a former aide to Newt Gingrich who also served as treasurer for a super-PAC supporting Texas Gov. Rick Perry’s 2012 presidential bid, Time reported.

Cruz may have made the early move due to his runner-up finish to Sen. Rand Paul in the Conservative Political Action Conference's straw poll this year.
