Sen Tom Coburn, R-OK, told a town hall meeting on Wednesday, that President Obama is getting dangerously near impeachment. Coburn asserts that even though Obama is a "friend", he has violated the constitution many times. He attributes some of it to intention actions mixed with a "ton of incompetence".
Sen Coburn's remarks were in answer to an attendee's statement that the Obama administration is "lawless' and then asked, who is responsible for "enforcing the constitutional responsibilities".
Coburn went on to say, that although he lacked the legal backround to make the call, he believes that Obama is rapidly moving in that direction. He added that it is the job of the House of Representatives to start impeachment proceedings. But he added:
“I’m documenting all this stuff as it goes along, but I don’t know where that level is.”
Sen Coburn was not specific in what the grounds for impeachment were, but he did mention that he believes the DHS (Department of Homeland Security) has ordered it's agents to quit doing backround checks on illegal aliens and the IRS scandal.
Coburn says that he became friends with President Obama when he was in the Senate but that it didn't affect his opinion.
“He became my friend in the Senate but that does not mean I agree in any way with what he’s doing or how he’s doing it. And I quite frankly think he’s in a difficult position he’s put himself in, and if it continues, I think we’re going to have another constitutional crisis in our country in terms of the presidency.”
