Sen. Bernie Sanders proposes Constitutional Amendment to limit Super PAC money

Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders has introduced legislation called the Saving American Democracy Amendment. It is designed to eliminate what some call legal corruption in campaign financing law.

The Citizens United vs. the Federal Election Commission Supreme Court decision of 2010 changed the designation of corporations into people, who can use their new found power to change the outcome of US elections.

Sander’s believes the result is a fundamental threat to America.

"American democracy in endangered," Sanders said. The Citizens United law “allowed unrestricted and secret campaign spending by corporations on U.S. elections.”

Under the Citizens United law, there is no requirement for disclosure of Super PAC money. There are also no restrictions on what country that money comes from. So any foreign interest can buy TV ads or other advertising to influence voters.
