Economically debilitating cap-and-trade policy is being instituted as we speak. Congress, Obama, and the state of California, want regulations to control greenhouse gas emissions. They tell us that “the science is settled” and that all who disagree are “flat earthers,” “tools of big business,” or worse. Catastrophe is coming. Something must be done and done now. Alarmism prevails.

Wait a minute! Whoa!

• What if greenhouse gas effects on temperature are overstated?
• What if temperature change measurements are bad data?
• What if we don't understand climate systems (like oceans and clouds) enough to simulate them in computer models that predict future climate?
• What if the alarmist climate positions of key scientific societies are under assault by their own members?
• What if empirical knowledge points to small, if any, human effect on climate?
• What if the best scientific information we have does not justify the enormous economic costs of proposed climate policies?

Some San Diego scientists do not believe the debate is over.  The science isn't settled.  Lynceans want to understand more about climate science before climate policy is made to lead the country, if not the world, into true economic disaster.

The Lyncean Group consists of retired and semi-retired scientists and engineers who meet regularly in San Diego to discuss various subjects in science, technology, and related fields. They are a group with diverse views who don’t mind hearing the “what ifs.”

The Lynceans will meet on Wednesday, July 21, 2010, at 11:30 a.m. in San Diego with speakers Dr. William Happer (Cyrus Fogg Brackett Professor of Physics, Princeton University, member National Academy of Sciences, and Chairman of the Marshall Institute) and Dr. Roger W. Cohen (American Physical Society Fellow and retired from ExxonMobil Research and Engineering Company).

Other groups would do well to follow the Lynceans example.

Cool. You left out the ever popular "deniers." As the evidence turns more and more against humans as hot house makers, the pols get more and more shrill. Maybe they see those tax dollars and big investment profits from subsidized businesses slip sliding away...

We are at war with CO2.

You are either with us humans or you are with CO2.

    Which is it?
