It makes me laugh when I tell people that I mostly sell fashion on eBay. It is true, I sell high end men’s shirts, but when I tell people that, they usually look me up and down. I’m not one who is into fashion trends or even wearing fashion forward clothing, but I really do enjoy selling high end clothing items because they sell well. A few weeks ago, I saw a show that has changed the way I sell clothing. That show is called Fashion Star, and it airs on NBC Tuesday nights at 10/9 c.
Amy originally conned me into watching it, and the premise of the show is this: Fashion designers make a new clothing item each week, and Macy’s, Saks Fifth Ave, or H&M have the ability to buy their clothing items, and if they do, the item is for sale the next day in their store. Sounds like a great concept, and it is, so here is why I like the show so much. Millions of people are watching this show, and they are falling in love with the clothing. When a clothing item is bought it sells out within a couple of days, and this is where we come in! When the item sells out, people are willing to pay top dollar to get it, and they are turning to eBay! So I’m not watching Fashion Star to see who makes it on to the next round, I’m watching Fashion Star to see what I’m going to be selling on eBay!
The first item was seen on week 1 of the show. It was a summertime dress made by Nikki Poulos, and Macy’s picked it up. They were selling in their stores for $89 as seen HERE. Lets take a look at a completed listing on eBay.
It sold for $253.99! Not a bad profit! Now lets look at a dress that H&M were selling for $29.99
Again, not a bad profit! Remember that these sell out quickly, and as the show catches on the prices are only going to go up! So make sure you are keeping up with the latest trends on Fashion Star, and if you think it’s going to sell well on eBay, then buy it! Most department stores have a 30 day return policy, so if it doesn’t sell for some reason then just return it.
