Reports state that Aguilar and friends were in a home and drinking. At some point during the evening, he had a gun in his hand and decided to take a selfie with it. Upon posing with it, the gun accidentally went off, shooting Aguilar in the head.

He died at the scene before being able to be transported to a hospital.

“I heard a gunshot, and then I heard somebody screaming and realized somebody had been hurt. I called the police straight away and when they arrived they found that he was still alive,” said neighbor Manfredo Paez Paez.

The Daily Mail said that an autopsy is still going to be conducted on Aguilar.

Aguilar had all intentions of posting the gun selfies on Facebook groups and his persona page. He had taken a number of other pictures of himself next to expensive cars or with numerous bottles of alcohol.

When police arrived at the scene, they took Omar Abner Campos Vives, Aguilar's friend, into custody. A man known as "El Paco" went on the run and is still being sought by police.

Police are still investigating more into the case to see if there could be anything else that may have happened or led to Aguilar's death.
