Downtown Indianapolis bicyclists needing air for their tires or place to do simple bike adjustments now have a new resource. A Saris Cycle Aid Station and Cycle Air public air station have been added to the Indianapolis City Market East Plaza, in front of the main entrance of the Indy Bike Hub YMCA and Bicycle Garage Indy Downtown. The work stand and pump are unattended and available 24 hours a day.
The Cycle Aid Station is a basic bike work stand, that easily holds a bikes with wheels off the ground. With eight commonly used tools securely attached, the Cycle Aid station allows bicyclists to make simple repairs and adjustments. Adjacent to the work stand a Cycle Air station is permanently mounted, and this makes adding air or fixing a flat tire easy at any time.
The Cycle Aid Station is manufactured in Wisconsin by the Saris Cycle Group. Their Stack Rack bicycle parking solution are used for the 150 bicycle parking spaces inside the Indy Bike Hub YMCA.
The Cycle Aid Station was purchased and installed by Bicycle Garage Indy's commercial division. The Cycle Aid station complements Bicycle Garage Indy's Downtown location inside the Indy Bike Hub YMCA, that opened in the fall of 2011.
Since the opening of the "Hub", the east plaza of the Indy City Market (at corner of East Market and Alabama in downtown Indianapolis), has been the destination or starting point for a variety of bicycle events, including Indianapolis Bike To Work Day (the third Friday in May each year), and Mayor Ballard's Annual Polar Bear Pedal, coming up Saturday, January 4, 2014.
