This November, the INSPIRE! Toronto International Book Fair will be introducing a new book award aimed squarely at self-publishers - “The Creation of Stories: Canada’s Self-Publishing Awards”.

Hosted at the exhibition for print and digital books and sponsored by Blurb, an indie-publishing platform, the award is open to all Canadians who have produced a book between July 1, 2013, and September 1, 2014, using any self-publishing platform.

Entrants can submit to 1 of 3 categories:

  • books for an adult audience (age 19 plus)
  • young adult (age 12-18)
  • children (newborn to 11)

The winners of each category will win $3000

Winners will also receive up to 100 printed copies of their book, professional marketing consultation, a full Blurb marketing campaign, and a trip to the INSPIRE! offices in Toronto. All winning entries will be available for sale at INSPIRE!.

There is also a People’s Choice award. Starting this October, the general public will be given the opportunity to vote on nominated titles for this prestigious, $1000 cash award.
