Self Proclaimed peacemaker Imam Abdul Rauf accused of greed and self dealing

Once quoted as saying “My life has been devoted to peacemaking” Imam Feisel Adul Rauf stands accused of devoting his life to fraud, deception, and diversion of funds for personal use.

In a lawsuit filed on Monday, February 4, 2013, donors to the ‘Ground Zero Mosque’ have accused Imam Feisel Abdul Ruaf and his wife Daisy Khan of pocketing more than $3.1 million dollars.

The complaint alleges numerous instances of fraud, tax evasion, breach of fiduciary duty, negligent misrepresentation and unjust enrichment.

The suit points to a period from December of 2010 through April of 2011 where the Shariah Funding provided by the plaintiffs was “not, in fact, utilized for the stated purposes set forth by Rauf, but was instead utilized by Rauf for his personal use.. shared with his wife, including… a luxury sports car, personal real estate, entertainment, lavish trips, and vacations” as well as “gifts and other personal uses.”

Rauf and his wife have 20 days to file an answer to the complaint which was filed in New York County Supreme Court under Index Number 151092/2013.

The donors Robert Deak, his wife Moshira Soliman and the Deak Family Foundation, said that their donations were intended to combat anti-Islamic sentiment while educating people about the religion, they are now seeking $25 million in damages.
