Jamie Arndt, Ph.D., Professor, Department of Psychological Sciences, University of Missouri will speak about “At the Intersection of Self, Health, and Death: Implications from a Terror Management Health Model.” The lecture, which is the second in the CHIP series this season, will be held in Video Conference Room 204 on the second floor of Ryan at 2006 Hillside Road at the University of Connecticut in Storrs on Thursday, September 19 2013, from 12:30 - 1:30 pm.

Dr. Arndt received his B.A. from Skidmore College and his Ph.D. from the University of Arizona in 1999. He has spent the last ten years working on applications of social and existential motivation to health-related behavior, funded by the National Cancer Institute.
He is currently a professor in the Department of Psychological Sciences at the University of Missouri, having recently been awarded the Frederic A Middlebush Chair in Psychological Sciences. He is also on the editorial board of Health Psychology, and is a member of an NCI sponsored working group (Cognitive, Affective, and Social Processes in Health; CASPHR) as well as a founding member of the Social Personality and Health Network.
Lunch will be provided for attendees from a choice of individually ordered sandwiches, including Falafel Pocket (vegetarian patties of ground chick peas, fava beans, oil, topped with lettuce, tomatoes, onions, tahini sauce ) in pita bread; Tabouleh Pocket (parsley, tomatoes, cracked wheat, herbs, spices with lettuce, onions) in pita bread; or Grape Leaves Pocket ( grape vine leaves stuffed with rice, vegetables, chick peas, lemon, with lettuce, tomatoes, onions) in pita bread, as well as) Chicken Kabob ( marinated chicken tenderloins with lettuce, tomatoes, onions, tahini and garlic spread) also served in pita bread.
