Is she ready to come and get it? Selena Gomez is about to get the biggest honor of the night at the 2014 Teen Choice Awards. The 22-year-old pop superstar is being awarded the Ultimate Choice Award during this Sunday's show, according to a report on Saturday by E! News.
While she seems rather young for the annual show’s version of a “lifetime achievement award,” MTV revealed that the award will be given to Gomez in recognition of her "extraordinary contributions to the entertainment world,” including her work on the Disney hit “Wizards of Waverly Place,” her 2014 solo album “Stars Dance, and her breakout adult role in the not-so-teen friendly “Spring Breakers.”
The popular star is in good company when it comes to the TCA’s most coveted award. Past honorees include Justin Timberlake, Britney Spears, Ashton Kutcher, Mike Myers and Taylor Swift.
Gomez is a regular fan favorite at the Teen Choice Awards, which honors the year's biggest achievements in music, movies, TV, fashion, and sports with a full-size graphic surfboard. The “Love You Like a Love Song” singer was one of the big winners at last year’s ceremony, and in 2012, Gomez accepted the Choice Music Group award for her band, Selena Gomez & the Scene, and was later presented with a tray loaded with sparkler-topped cupcakes and a “Happy Birthday” serenade from the start-studded audience.
This year’s Teen Choice Awards also promises to be a star-studded event. Presenters and guests scheduled to appear include Gomez’s pals Taylor Swift and Demi Lovato, Cody Simpson, Victoria Justice, Ian Somerhalder, Ariana Grande, newly announced presenter Jennifer Lopez and many more. In addition, there will be musical performances by Jason Derulo, Magic! and Rixton.
“Teen Wolf” star and past TCA winner Tyler Posey will emcee the 2014 edition of the annual awards ceremony alongside 'Modern Family" star Sarah Hyland, while top nominees include rapper Iggy Azalea, Ariana Grande, and pop icons Beyonce and Nicki Minaj.
