Selena Gomez had shocked her fans in December after she announced that she was canceling the Australian leg of her tour. It sounds like she had good reason. According to People on Feb. 5, the young singer spent two weeks in rehab early last month.
However, her reps were quick to point out that it was not because of an addiction to drugs or alcohol. That said, the real reason was not revealed just yet. Gomez checked herself into Dawn at the Meadows facility in Arizona that deals with many different types of addictions.
The “Come and Get It” singer chose to check herself in voluntarily on Jan. 5 to take care of something that she must have felt needed to be addressed for her well-being. After the cancellation of her tour, she made a statement saying, "It has become clear to me and those close to me that after many years putting my work first, I need to spend some time on myself in order to be the best person I can be.”
It sounds like she is doing just that. While many are wondering just what her problem may have been, Gomez will no doubt address the issue to her fans when she is ready. In the meantime, the 21-year-old has her friends and family surrounding her and giving her love and encouragement. Taylor Swift and Demi Lovato are just two of her close knit band of girlfriends that are sure to be there for her.
With all of the drama surrounding her life lately with her on again-off again boyfriend, Justin Bieber, getting arrested for a DUI, hopefully the former Disney star will get back to good health.
