Selena Gomez is ready to come and get an MTV Video Music Award. On August 21, MTV News posted video of the former “Wizards of Waverly Place” star, who’s currently on the road with her “Stars Dance” tour, and she’s nothing short of “stoked” about her nominations.
The pop princess’s hit single “Come & Get It” is nominated for Best Pop Video at the VMAs, but it’s up against some very stiff competition from videos by Bruno Mars, Justin Timberlake, Miley Cyrus and fun.
Gomez told MTV News, "It's tough competition," but she added, “Honestly, I was so stoked. I didn't even realize I was nominated until my friend texted me. I was really stoked, and my fans Instagrammed and Twittered me. It was really sweet. So, I'm stoked. I'm excited. I've gone to the show a couple of times, so to actually be on the other side is gonna be exciting for me."
"I don't know about my chances. We'll see," she added. "We'll see if I win, but I think it's a beautiful video… So, honestly, I feel like it stands on its own. I'm very proud of it."
Gomez’s “Come & Get It” is also up for an award for Best Song of the Summer. She already nabbed a trophy for the song at the Teen Choice Awards earlier this month, while her “Stars Dance” album scored the singer her first #1 debut on the Billboard charts.
According to Capital FM, in addition to being a double nominee, Selena Gomez will also make a mid-tour pit stop to be a presenter at this year’s VMAs. Taylor Swift, Emeli Sande, Thirty Seconds To Mars frontman Jared Leto, and rapper A$AP Rocky are also on the presenters list.
The 2013 MTV Video Music Awards will air live on Sunday, August 25 at 9PM ET/PT on MTV.
