Actor James Franco, actresses Selena Gomez, Rachel Korine and Ashley Benson and Director Harmony Korine celebrated the premiere of their film “Spring Breakers” at the 2013 SXSW Music, Film + Interactive Festival at Paramount Theatre on March 10, 2013 in Austin, Texas.
With screenplay and direction by Harmony Korine (who looked cool in his orange sunnies while posing for photos!) comedy “Spring Breakers” is about four bored female college students who are jailed for robbing a restaurant to fund their Spring Break vacation. They end up being bailed out by a drug and arms dealer who wants them to do “some dirty work” for him…
Selena Gomez, who plays the role of “Faith,” wowed in a two-piece orange skirt and bustier top dress by Dolce & Gabbana. The 20-year-old singer/actress, often associated with singer Justin Bieber, accessorized with Giuseppe Zanotti heels.
Rachel Korine (plays “Cotty”) too looked lovely in her artsy one-shoulder floral dress, which she teamed with pointed black pumps, while costar Ashley Benson (as “Brit”) looked sultry in her sleek halterneck black maxi with black and white insets and slits on the sides. A glam updo and thick silver-tone metal bangles completed Ashley’s duotone ensemble.
Actor James Franco (cast as a rapper called “Alien”) and Director Harmony Korine both looked casual, and interestingly coordinated, in their blue jeans, checked shirts and warm black parkas. Which reminds me, perhaps the ladies were feeling a bit cold in their dresses that showed a bit of skin if the fellas needed padded jackets…
Though not present at the premiere, Spring Breakers also stars singer/actress Vanessa Hudgens, who plays the part of “Candy.”
According to its profile, Spring Breakers is also rated “R” for strong sexual content, language, nudity, drug use and violence throughout…
The film has even been called the “bikini crime comedy” by some. Seems to have something for everyone! Though I have to say that some of us may be disappointed that Franco’s character “Alien” is not a real ET…
