Seventeen-year-old Selena Gomez has yet another reason to be proud of herself, and this is a good one. She is now the youngest Unicef ambassador of the United States.
The Disney Channel star joins celebrities like Clay Aiken, Lucy Liu, Joel Madden, Alyssa Milano, Sarah Jessica Parker, Susan Sarandon, Shakira, and Liv Tyler, among others, as an ambassador for the United Nation's Children's Fund (UNICEF). She, still very young herself, will now be able to use her influence for a great cause, raising funds and awareness to help children in need all over the world.
According to Teen First, Selena Gomez has said, "Every day, 25,000 children die from preventable causes. I stand with Unicef in the belief that we can change that number from 25,000 to zero". Her representative added, "(She has) now taken on an official role as an ambassador. She will be involved in educating, advocating, and fundraising".
Selena Gomez, who is also involved in other charitable projects with organizations like First Book, is currently in Ghana, Africa. There, she will learn about Unicef's child survival programs in her first official mission since her appointment. On September 3rd, she used Twitter to share the news of the trip with her followers: "Hey guys! I'm going to be in Africa for a week. Hope you guys have a great week, I can't wait to tell you all about the trip! Love you!"
Her fans, and all the children she will now be able to help more than ever, very probably love her, too.

I do not know Selena personally but I think it should have not been her but someone form Africa because he/she really feel how it is like to be in such environment and he /she will known how to solve the problem more than Selena because he/she has lived it.
well i love selena, and i think that what she is doing is great. using her fame to influence people is what more celebrities should be doing. She's a great down to earth person, overall, she's just awesome. Love her
