In her biography on IMDb, it is said that the 21 year old star began as “Gianna” on Barney & Friends in 2001. This is when Selena discovered her own talent. Once she was dropped after only two years, Gomez obtained a small role in Spy Kids 3-D in 2003 followed by a small part as “Julie” in Walker, Texas Ranger: Trial by Fire in 2005. Selena Gomez became known as Hannah Montana’s “evil” rival Mikayla in 2006.
In 2007 she gained roles in two Disney spin-off series, one of which being Alex Russo in Wizards of Waverly Place. As her stardom grew, so did her talent. Since 2008 Selena Gomez has starred in Horton Hears a Who!, Another Cinderella Story, Ramona and Beezus, Monte Carlo, Hotel Transylvania, as well as other productions.
In 2012 Selena Gomez took a different turn in her acting career when she decided to star in the film Spring Breakers. It was around this time that she decided she wanted to slide away from the kid image to something a little more mature. Selena continued with this image while staring in Getaway in 2013. Currently she is working in two productions in 2014 called Rudderless and Behaving Badly.
