“Spring Breakers” places Selena Gomez outside her comfort zone in her role as Faith.
“Spring Breakers” is rated R for the raunchy sexual content, foul language, nudity and violence. There are instances of drug use as well.
Sound fun? Four college girls are bored with their lives in the same old town, with the same old daily happenings. They decide to save up some money and take off for spring break.
Brit, Candy, Cotty and Faith have known each other and been B.F.F.’s since elementary school. After deciding they will do anything to go on spring break, they land themselves a bed in the local jail after they rob a restaurant to gain funds for the spring break vacation they need so desperately.
The foursome is released from jail after their bail has been paid. A local drug and arms dealer decides to bail them out to use them for his own dirty deed list.
The girls meet up with rapper “Alien” who promises to show the girls a real good time. He encourages them to enjoy their spring break but how far will they go to have a good time?
The worldwide premiere of “Spring Breakers” was at the Venice Film Festival in 2012. The North American Premiere was through the Toronto International Film Festival, where Time Out New York’s Josh Rothkopf dubbed it “Devastatingly fun.”
Dramedy-crime movie “Spring Breakers” was definitely a stretch for the “girl next door” character of Selena Gomez. She took the role to advance her career as an actress but has she gone too far?
