Selena Gomez pulled what the media is calling a “dangerous stunt” at LAX Airport in Los Angeles on Feb. 7. Justin Bieber’s on-and-off-girlfriend allowed three seemingly random fans into her private car at the airport terminal, according to a Feb. 8 TMZ report.
TMZ reports that three female fans were waiting for Gomez outside the airport terminal, hoping to meet the singer. Gomez initially walked past the girls and got into her waiting car, but later yielded to their never-ending pleading and invited them over to her car. She reportedly rolled down the window to speak with them but they opened the door and jumped into the car with the star.
Gomez’s security guard rushed to remove the girls from the vehicle, but Gomez refused to send them away. The car drove off with the three girls still inside.
This was potentially dangerous because according to TMZ, Selena has in the past, received multiple death threats from a variety of individuals, including a mentally unstable man who was eventually arrested for stalking the actress.
On Feb. 9, TMZ received an update on the story from the actress’ rep, who told the publication that Gomez let the fans into the car because they wanted to get her autograph and possibly some pictures, but the scene was too chaotic outside the car. The rep says that the fans were let out of the vehicle two terminals down from their pickup location.
It appears the actress was struggling between heeding safety concerns and being nice to her fans. Her judgment in this case could be seen as questionable, or she could be seen as “fan-accessible.”
