Gomez told the crowd at the conference that she wanted to tell them her path. She commented, "I don't like be honest with press and interviews, I like being honest with you." Gomez than shared the story about how her mother had her at age 16 and how she worked four jobs to help make Gomez's life better. Gomez first wanted to be an actress at the young age of 7. Gomez got emotional when she shared that so many people around her put so much pressure on her, saying, "You gotta be sexy, you gotta be cute, you gotta be nice, you gotta be all these things."

The crowd at the first annual "We Day" California event in California received Gomez with screams as she shared her personal story, reports USA Today. Gomez broke down the veneer of an idyllic like experience with her enormously successful career as she shared many of her struggles.

Gomez is said to have appeared troubled when she told of how so many people around her tell her what to wear, how to look, what to say, and how she should be. Although Gomez tearfully shared how she lost sight of who she was for awhile, it appears she certainly has more than enough emotional intelligence to stay on the path of now coming back into the warm and caring person she really is.
