Following the announcement that Station Cash will no longer be an accepted currency for expansions and DLC, several Sony Online Entertainment expansions and DLC for different MMOs are currently on sale.
Everquest 2's Age of Discovery and Destiny of Velious are half off their normal prices. Age of Discovery is just $19.99 while Destiny of Velious is only $9.99. Collector's Editions of both are also half off with Age of Discovery at $44.99 and Destiny of Velious at $29.99. The original Everquest's Veil of Alaris is also included in the promotion. It's half off, too, at just $19.99. The Collector's Edition version of it is on sale at $44.99.
Additionally, all of DC Universe Online's DLCs are half off, too. Each DLC is normally $9.99 but until the end of the promotion, each is just $4.99. This promotion applies to PC players only, though.
These sales will only be available until 11:59 PM PDT on August 12, 2012.
Apparently, double and triple Station Cash promotions were hurting SOE MMO's bottom lines. Players will no longer be able to use Station Cash to purchase any SOE MMO expansion or downloadable content. This includes Everquest and Everquest 2 expansions and DC Universe Online's DLC packs.
Furthermore, this means that gamers will have to go through SOE financially instead of being able to purchase Station Cash cards at a local retailer, or with PayPal, to buy major additions to their favorite MMO. It seems as if a credit card will be required to buy expansions and DLC since other options like PayPal are not currently accepted.
