Fans will be happy to learn that the recent reports of the death of Wayne Knight who played Newman on “Seinfeld” were nothing more than another Internet hoax. TMZ Today posted a fictitious account of a tractor trailer crash that took the life of Wayne Knight on March 15. According to a March 16 report on Hollywood Take the site is fake and so are the reports. The site has a similar appearance to TMZ probably with the intent to mislead readers.

TMZ Today even went so far as to quote fictitious Tweets from non-existent Twitter accounts to further the story of Wayne Knights’ death, explains Hollywood Take. The image of the crash is actually an image of a crash that occurred in Portland, OR in 2009. It can be found on SalemNews.com.

Fans can rest assured that Wayne Knight is alive and well and did not die in a car crash over the weekend. In fact, Wayne tweeted his own response to the news that he was dead at 12:44 pm today.

Some of you will be glad to hear this, others strangely disappointed, but….I am alive and well!

Relieved fans expressed their excitement that the rumors were unfounded by responding to his tweet.
