After a photo of marketing material showed that Sega standby Sonic the Hedgehog would be hitting the shelves for PlayStation 4, Wii U and Xbox One in 2015, the publisher has since quashed the rumors, according to a report today from VG 24/7.

In a statement made to Eurogamer today, a Sega spokesperson said that the publisher hasn’t made public any of the details involving the Sonic the Hedgehog game and the photo –– which you can see in this VG 24/7 report –– didn’t accurately represent information about the game.

“Sega is yet to announce details of upcoming console video games for Sonic the Hedgehog or further details regarding the new Sonic CG TV series. The recent information coming out of Nuremburg Toy Fair was incorrect,” the Sega spokesperson said.

The Sega spokesperson then directed those interested in receiving updates and information regarding the game to visit SonicTheHedgehog.com or follow the Sonic the Hedgehog Twitter page at @sonic_hedgehog.

If the rumors had been true, this would have been the fourth Sonic title from Sega, the last being Sonic: Lost World released exclusively for Nintendo platforms in 2013.
