An image leaked Wednesday reveals Sega has big plans for "Sonic the Hedgehog" in 2014, going as far to say it will mark a "Renaissance of the brand.”

SweetCrew from the Sonic Stadium message boards came across a Machinima video asking "Is Sonic Dead?" The video, which is now set to private, contained a "Sonic Boom" promotional image with the headline "2014: Year of Sonic." The real meat of the story, however, it the text printed below.

2014 will mark a renaissance for Sonic the Hedgehog. Please join us to be the first to hear about SEGA’s exclusive announcements and plans for the Sonic brand”

On whether or not this promo image is authentic, Sonic Stadium states Sega's entire community team, the head of marketing, and several Sega producers publicly announced they're on a business trip in New York City. "Sonic" brand manager, Aaron Webber, tweeted his arrival in New York. This news comes recently after Sega denounced a game listing seen at the Nuremburg Toy Fair announcing a new "Sonic" game for PS4, Xbox One, and Wii U in 2015.
