Lots of our neighbors who live, work and play in the San Fernando Valley are headed out to the Oscars on Sunday afternoon for the 86th awards show in Hollywood, and the weather is cooperating.
The worst rainstorm in three years ended with the skies parting and the sun coming up (the Oscars were delayed actually once, during flooding on year decades ago!) But, the tarps that were planned have been peeled back so that the folks in the stands (who have been there for six hours at least before the show) are able to see all the stars as they walk the red carpet.
The limos are stacked up on Highland Avenue as they head to Hollywood Boulevard, and I can see the helicopters hovering two hours before the awards begin.
A lot of our neighbors are headed out, such as George Clooney, Mila Kunis, Kristen Bell and more. June Squibb is the Sherman Oaks resident who's nominated for Supporting Actress in "Nebraska," Sandra Bullock who drops her son off at school every day here is nominated for Best Actress for "Gravity" and Jared Leto, who lives in the Cahuenga Pass, is nominated for Supporting Actor in "Dallas Buyers Club."
Ellen DeGeneres, who tapes her show in the San Fernando Valley at the Warner Bros. Studios in Burbank, is hosting the show, and is considered a "safe" host for the show after last year's more edgy host, Seth McFarland. (Portia DeRossi, Ellen's wife, looks stunning, check out the photo gallery.)
See the photo gallery from Getty Images, and courtesy of the Academy itself. Kelly Osbourne brought an umbrella just in case the rains came down. Mario Lopez looked dapper. Brooke Anderson, who tapes her "The Insider" show on the Studio City Radford lot looked stunning in blue.
Louise Roe, who was signing autographs just last week at the Studio City Farmers Market, was on the carpet early, as was local residents Kellan Lutz, Olivia Wilde, Ryan Seacrest, Maria Menounous and Nancy O'Dell (who also tapes her show, Entertainment Tonight at the Studio City studios).
Personal friends, Oscar nominated editor David Whittaker and his wife Deborah are going and she was very excited on Facebook, writing yesterday, "I am very excited! Haircut and highlights today. Makeup at a studio tomorrow. Worried about walking a long red carpet and stairs in heels. Formal, wrap, shoes, jewelry, highlights, tomorrow haircut at Salon True & makeup at Vanity. Oscar tickets. Almost ready to walk the red carpet tomorrow. Nervous and extremely excited!" We hope to add a few of their glamour shots in the photo gallery, too.
