See what's new in cooking demos at the Texas Home and Garden Show this weekend

If you missed last weekend's Houston Metro Cooking Show and Paula Deen's appearance, you can still catch great cooking demonstrations from locally well-known chefs from some of Houston's best-loved food trucks at the Texas Home and Garden Show at the Reliant Center.

This year, for the first time, the Texas Home and Garden Show at Reliant Center will be hosting a Mobil Gourmet Cafe. There you will find a variety of Houston's greatest food trucks, and some of the chefs on those trucks will be giving cooking demonstrations for how they make some of the favorite foods from their truck. For instance, you could see Bernie's Burger Bus cooking up Preschool Sliders or watch as Happy Ending makes hot dogs, tacos and egg rolls.

It costs $10 for adults and $9 for seniors to get into the show. On Saturday, when you visit the show, you will have to pay extra for parking between 10 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. due to the University of Houston's Bayou Bucket game, but you can get $5 off the cost of your show ticket if you bring your parking stub to the ticket window.

While you are at the show, be sure to check out the speaker Scott Snodgrass who will have a presentation on both Saturday and Sunday at the show about growing edible plants in your yard or garden. This may give you some ideas for starting your own kitchen garden for the freshest possible herbs and produce for your home cooking. There will even be vendors on hand to help you with any kitchen remodeling ideas you may have.
