Mark Schmitz, owner of High Meadow Arabians in Copper Canyon, Texas has been involved with horses throughout most of his life. His father competed and won the State competition in 1946 and Mark still displays the trophy his dad won at that time.
You can usually count on seeing one or more new baby foals every year at High Meadow Arabians. And this year is no exception. The breedings, which occurred approximately 11 months prior to the births, produced two foals, both of which are colts (young males). One foal was planned to be a Valentine's Day surprise for Mark, but he came a day early on February 13. The other foal was more recently born in the wee hours on Monday, May 3.
The younger foal has a striking conformation, with a short back, elegant neck and head carriage. Schmitz has high expectations for this youngster. In a couple of years, this young colt will go to an outside trainer and will be prepared for competition. The colt will get a lot of exposure and oftentimes, a potential buyer will make an offer and buy the colt. This, in turn, will bring High Meadow Arabians additional recognition and show case their high-quality Polish Arabian line of horses.
