Want a free event in New York City over Thanksgiving break? Get an even earlier start to Thanksgiving by going to see the famous Macy’s Thanksgiving parade balloons being blown up. The event is free from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. on November 27, 2013. It is an event that is enjoyable for children of all ages, even the big ones!
Traffic during the entire holiday season in New York City is always going to cause more headaches than usual. Best advice is to take public transportation. The balloons can be viewed from 77th and 81st streets between Central Park West and Columbus Avenue. Take the B or C train to the 81st Natural History Museum stop or the 1 train to 79th Street station and walk a few blocks more.
The event gets very crowded, so it is advised to go early. But put it on the list of free (and even kid friendly) things to do in New York City during Thanksgiving.
