See Donkey Kong Country Returns, bananas eaten at Toronto launch event Saturday

Donkey Kong Country Returns will not be released until this Sunday, November 21st, but those who can make it to Toronto's Yonge-Eglinton Centre will have the opportunity to play the game early.

And not only will fans get a chance to go hands-on with Nintendo's biggest Wii title going into the 2010 holiday season, but they will also have the opportunity to see just how many bananas competitive eating king "The Tsunami" Takeru Kobayashi can manage to overcome.  Perhaps DK should keep an eye on this guy if he wants to keep his hoard safe.

The fun kicks off at 1pm on Saturday, November 20th in front of the Toys R Us on the upper plaza level, and will last until 4pm.  Kobayashi's Banana Eating Challenge, meanwhile, will take place starting at 3pm sharp.

The Yonge Eglinton Centre is located at the corner of... well, Yonge and Eglinton, or at 20 Eglinton Avenue West, Toronto, M4R 1K8 for those who need something a little more precise for Google Maps or a GPS.

Finally, a mildly disappointing word of warning for those who hope to attend: while you will indeed have the opportunity to play Donkey Kong Country Returns prior to its release the following day, you will not be able to purchase a copy of the game itself at the event.  You'll still have to wait until the 21st for that.

We plan to be at the event, and will bring you some photographs of the proceedings, and we'll try to get some of The Tsunami stuffing his face full of banana, too.
