Do you love PBS's America's Test Kitchen? You can see the show's Christopher Kimball live at Jones Hall this Thursday, August 14 at 8pm.
The show is brought to Houston by the Society for the Performing Arts and Phoenicia Foods, which are collaborating to create a contest. The winner of the contest, which will be picked this Monday, August 11, will get a night out at MKT Bar downtown, a copy of Cook's Illustrated Baking Book by Christopher Kimball and a pair of tickets for the America's Test Kitchen Live! Show this week. The only thing you have to do is sent an email with the subject line "Test Kitchen Contest" to firstname.lastname@example.org for your entry.
America's Test Kitchen
The America's Test Kitchen show airs on PBS, and it brings to life the science and skills behind the magazine Cook's Illustrated, which is also edited by Christopher Kimball. The people who put together both projects are obsessive with finding the best means possible to achieve the perfect results. They elevate cooking to a science by conducting thorough experiments to see which flour is best for baking cakes or the best way to descale a fish.
The America's Test Kitchen Live! show will feature all of the experimentation and curiosity of the TV show. Select audience members may participate in a taste test on stage featuring chocolate varieties. Participants' sense of smell will also be put to the test during a test to see how accurately the nose knows. Rounding out the evening will be a pair of scientific experiments and a live question and answer session.
Whether you are a fan of the magazine, the show or both, this is a live event that must not be missed. If you are interested in seeing this show, don't delay. It will be held one night only, on August 14, 2014, at 8 pm at Jones Hall. Tickets for the show are available through the Society for the Performing Arts' website.
