It seems US Sect. of State John Kerry’s advisor O”Bagy wasn’t only not honest about being a paid advocate for a Syrian rebel group.
She also didn’t have a PhD either as Think Progess reports.
“Except Dr. O’Bagy wasn’t actually a doctor. Her PhD was fabricated, a lie she told her employers at the Institute for the Study of War (ISW), an influential neoconservative-aligned think tank, to get hired.”
She was fired yesterday for obvious reasons.
One has to wonder how poor the background checks are by the Sect. of State’s office and ISW. How did they not catch the fact the she actually had no PhD? Any basic research on the Georgetown website would find she is not a PhD graduate or a student at that venerable institution.
"She is not listed as a PhD student on the Government department’s website. She does not exist in the university directory.”
The Wall Street Journal is trying covering itself for falling for this woman as well, according to Politico.
“Paul Gigot, editorial page editor of The Wall Street Journal, told POLITICO in a statement that “we were not aware of Elizabeth O’Bagy’s academic claims or credentials when we published her Aug. 31 op-ed, and the op-ed made no reference to them.”
Might be time for the US Senate to tighten its research into potential people who are allowed to testify before committees. This woman was allowed to participate in one of the most important hearings of recent years yet no one knew she was a complete fraud. She misrepresented herself on multiple levels, yet it was not caught by anyone in a position of authority.
Is there any wonder Americans do not trust their government and the things it tells them?
