Woman who are finding the aging process daunting, there are secrets to looking younger. From skin care to sunglasses, looking younger can be achieved. Women in Austin can find the best beauty products at the makeup counters at any department store, makeup stores such as The Cosmetic Company Store, Ulta and Sephora.
Skin Care
Changing up your skin care make over gives you younger, fresher looking skin. As skin ages it dries and thins, using the same face care routine from five years ago won’t be the best option for skin now. As skin on the face changes, women need to update their moisturizers. If they have been using just a basic moisturizer, it may be time to switch to one with anti-aging properties.
Buying the most expensive brands of skin care products will not guarantee results. The secret to younger looking skin is to find a daily routine that works and stick to it. Regardless of whether the moisturizer costs $200 or $30, it’s the daily routine that makes the difference.
Foundation Primers
If fine lines and wrinkles are more noticeable, adding a quality primer will help. Primers fill in the small lines and wrinkles. This will make them appear less visible. The primer is applied after the moisturizer but before the foundation. A great quality primer is Photo Finish by Smashbox. Photo Finish can be purchased in Austin at The Cosmetic Company Store and the makeup counters in the department stores such as Dillard’s.
Foundation
Avoid using thick foundations. A thick foundation can crack and make the fine lines a woman is trying to hide look worse. Applying foundation directly to the skin can create an even worse drying effect. Always utilize a moisturizer under the foundation. Switch from rubbing on foundation to applying with a brush or sponge. Using a brush or sponge allows for more control with the liquid foundations.
Eyes
As women age the eyelids begin to droop. The trick is to draw the attention away from the eyelid to towards the eye itself. Using eyeliner accomplishes this. Try outlining the entire eye where the lashes begin. Doing this will give the illusion of thicker eye lashes and make the shape of the eye more prominent.
The job of the eyebrows is to frame the face. However, eyebrows thin and get gray as women age. To enhance the eyebrow, pick an eyebrow pencil that closely matches your hair color. Once you’ve used the eyebrow pencil, finish the look by using power to set.
Dark circles are something most woman battle. They can be caused by lack of sleep, health issues, or increased pigments in the skin surrounding the eyes. To minimize the look of dark circles, use a good concealer that is one shade lighter than the skin on the face and that is yellowish in tone. One great concealer is the concealer kits by Bobby Brown. The kits come with the concealer as well as the setting powder. The trick to applying concealer is NOT to cover the entire area around the eye. Just apply the concealer to the darkest edge of the circles.
Wearing sunglasses will protect the skin surrounding the eyes. This area is delicate and needs protection from sun damage. Wearing sunglasses will protect the area and lessen the amount of squinting. Squinting leads to wrinkles.
Lips
One obvious way to draw attention to wrinkles is having lip color that bleeds. Lipsticks are creams and will run into the lowest places around the lips, i.e. the lines around the lips. To prevent this from happening, apply moisturizer to the lips, and coat them with foundation before applying the lip color. If plumper lips are the end result wanted, after applying the foundation, use lip liner to outline and completely fill in the lips. Then use a lip brush to apply lip-plumping lipstick.
Skin
For fresher looking skin, add an exfoliating cleanser to the skin care routine. Exfoliating regularly will get rid of dead, dry skin cells and reveals the fresh new skin underneath.
Hands
As hands age, they dry and crack more often. Slather on a good moisturizing hand lotion several times a day. The best lotions for dry cracked skin are ones that contain glycerin, Shea butter, or safflower seed oil. For hands that have skin discolorations or “age spots”, choose a skin correcting lotion.
Having younger looking skin is attainable if women are consistent in their daily routines. Washing the face occasionally or only applying moisturizers and primers on “special occasions” will not lead to the desired results. Only commitment to a skin care regimen can do that.
