Outgoing Secretary of State Hillary Clinton returned to work on Monday, Jan. 7, Politico.com reported. The secretary of state received a standing ovation from staffers, as well as a joke gift and an unusual compliment.
At a press briefing, spokeswoman Victoria Nuland said, “Let me just say, as a fellow chick, her hair looked fabulous this morning.”
Reporters at the press conference asked about the helmet that Clinton received from staffers as a joke gift, wondering if Hillary had tried on the helmet. Nuland said the secretary of state had not.
But since the former first lady and New York State senator’s hair looked so fabulous, Nuland said, “I’m not sure I would have challenged my hair with a helmet either.”
Clinton returned to work on Monday, Jan 7. after being hospitalized to treat a blood clot found during a post-concussion exam. Clinton suffered the concussion after a fall caused by dehydration while recovering from the flu.
Hillary Clinton will step down as secretary of state following President Obama’s second term inauguration on Jan. 20. Obama has already made it clear that Sen. John Kerry is his choice to replace Clinton as secretary of state.
