In case you haven’t been keeping up-to-date with things the past few weeks, Examiner.com will be heading to Iceland this coming June for Secret Solstice Festival: a brand new startup set during the summer solstice, a time where the sun won’t set for 72-hours.

With an ambitions crew of owners and organizers almost all in their twenties, as well as a concept that has been marked by many as the most unique on Earth, Iceland’s Secret Solstice Festival haven’t let up on setting big goals for the event’s future. While it may seem like a grand plan, their aim is to become the biggest music event in all of Iceland in only the first year, an ambitious plan considering the already-established events held in the country.

“Iceland’s music scene is incredible, and we already have people coming from as far away as Australia to experience the midnight sun here in Iceland.” Said Leon Hill, the festival’s director of marketing.

“We’re still being challenged massively though. A startup festival still has the restrictions of a startup, and that means a small budget to advertise. So whether we can pull in the numbers to hit our goal of becoming the nation’s biggest is still yet to be seen.”

Based on numbers alone, Secret Solstice should eclipse most of Iceland’s major festivals by default when it’s held this June, though even the staff admit they’ll have to work hard to knock the biggest name off their pedestal.

“In terms of numbers, the Westman Islands festival is by far the biggest, with around fifteen thousand people attending every year,” said Hill. “We don’t know if we can pull off something bigger than that, though we’re not going to stop trying.”

The festival still has a few aces up its sleeve, with two more lineups to be announced to lure buyers from overseas, as well as locally in Iceland. The second phase lineup is due to drop this Friday, with Examiner.com being the first publication in America to bring you the new announcement.

As it stands, the Secret Solstice will boast over 150 artists in June, with the existing first phase of artists looking like this:
