On Saturday night, a working dog with the Secret Service lost its life in a tragic accident.
According to CNN News, the dog, a Belgian Malinois, was performing a security sweep at a parking garage adjacent to the Ritz-Carlton hotel in New Orleans, La., at the time of the incident.
Security measures were being taken at the parking garage because Vice President Joe Biden was speaking at a fundraising event for U.S. Senator Mary Landrieu.
There are no details on exactly how the dog fell from the roof of the six-story building. A spokesperson for the Secret Service told CNN that it was a "tragic accident."
Though the dog was rushed to an emergency veterinarian, the injuries sustained in the fall proved to be life-ending.
The Secret Service has not released the name of the dog who died.
