"Pokemon" meets "Animal Crossing" after the revival of Ruby and Sapphire's favorite gameplay modes.
Secret Bases, the gameplay feature which allowed gamers in “Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire” to create their own personal spaces in the game, will be reimagined in the upcoming “Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire” games this fall, with added Streetpass functionality, Nintendo and the Pokemon Company announced in a press release yesterday.
In each players’ Secret Base, gamers will be able to create and decorate a space for visitors to interact with, such as traps and mazes; they can even set their own battle-rules and make their base a Pokemon Gym.
According to the press release, gamers can invite other trainers to their secret base via QR code or StreetPass. Once inside a Secret Base, trainers can trade skills and collect each other’s flags (located outside) and even help someone’s egg hatch faster or battle them.
For those who haven’t experienced the original Secret Base feature, The Pokemon Company also said you’ll have some initial company in the new version of the mode:
“To help you get started with Super-Secret Bases, you’ll meet Secret Base Expert Aarune. Aarune and his Flygon are world travelers, bursting with excitement about the Secret Base culture in the Hoenn region. This enthusiastic adventurer will teach you all about the fun of Secret Bases during your journey.”
“Pokémon Omega Ruby” and “Pokémon Alpha Sapphire” will launch on Nintendo 3DS this November.
