The first two teaser videos for Mockingjay have not been the traditional parade of film footage fans might want -- but instead, Lionsgate has taken on a creepy propaganda approach to the marketing of the final two Hunger Games films. The videos are meant to immerse fans in the world of The Hunger Games, and make them feel as if they are citizens living in Panem, the fictional world where the series takes place.
While the first teaser showed President Snow (Donald Sutherland) issuing a message of unity and peace, with a brainwashed Peeta (Josh Hutcherson) by his side -- this new teaser gives fans a glimpse of the rebellion.
The new video starts off much the same way, although this time President Snow is also surrounded by armed Peacekeepers -- and with Peeta on one side, on his other side stands Johanna Mason (Jena Malone). However, Snow's address is interrupted by some interference -- until finally, Beetee (Jeffrey Wright) appears on screen, telling viewers that he has a message from District 13.
"The Mockingjay lives," he says. As fans know, the "Mockingjay" refers to Katniss.
It's still unclear when Lionsgate will release a traditional teaser or trailer for Mockingjay. Though filming on the two-part finale only recently finished, it began back in September -- which should be plenty of time to cut together some official movie footage.
Meanwhile, the new teaser video is expected to be shown in theaters this weekend with Rise of the Planet of the Apes.
