The second video in Sony’s “PlayStation Evolution” series was posted to the PlayStation website today, Feb. 16, 2013. Many have speculated that this series of videos highlighting PlayStation’s evolution over the years is going to lead to a reveal of the PlayStation 4 at Sony’s event in New York City on Wednesday. This certainly would make sense, but only time will tell.
This new video showcases the PlayStation 2 era of gaming. The PS2 had much more advanced technology than its predecessor, with the Emotion Engine CPU and DVD rom drive, which let it play larger and more complex games; as well as DVD movies. The system was released in 2000, and quickly rose to become the best-selling non-handheld video game console of all time.
With Sony releasing a video on the first PlayStation yesterday, and the PlayStation 2 today, perhaps they’ll release one on the PlayStation 3 tomorrow, PlayStation Portable on Monday, and PlayStation Vita on Tuesday, leading into a reveal of the PlayStation 4 on Wednesday? This is pure speculation, but it would make some amount of sense.
Check back for more updates as they become available.
