Second home opener for the New Hampshire Roller Derby

The first home opener for the New Hampshire Roller Derby happened at the New Hampshire Roller Derby’s new venue of UNH’s Whittermore Center on April 16th. The second home opener was played in Manchester on April 23rd at the JFK Coliseum. The nearly 700 spectators had the opportunity to enjoy a double header for the first bouts of the 2011 season in Manchester.

The first matchup of the evening was the Skate Free or Die All-Stars against the Long Island Roller Rebels. The All-Stars battled tough, but couldn’t hold off the Roller Rebels and in the end the Roller Rebels won the first bout of the evening.

The Queen City Cherry Bombs took on Granite State in the second bout of the evening. Granite State put up a good fight and  with 15:18 left in the second period the score was tied at 61. The Cherry Bombers went on to dominate the rest of the bout allowing Granite State only one more point in the bout. The final score was Queen City 91, Granite State 62.

The next home bout at the JFK Coliseum will be May 21st.
