Second helping of Flavor Tripping benefit offers discount tickets

Ahhh, tomatillos, I'll never look at you the same way again.  Your sweet, lush, juicy goodness was the highlight of the night for me.  Flavor tripping last night at The Belmont brought my views of the normally tart tomatillo to a different level.  To me, a raw tomatillo tastes like you'd imagine the color green would: bright, sourish and well, green With a Miracle Berry on board, tomatillos taste like ripe plums.

The Berry Fairy and The Belmont have teamed up to offer a second helping of Flavor Tripping to Austinites.  Benefitting the local nonprofit charity We Are Learning, the party's ticket price has been discounted for Examiner readers.  Discounted tickets are available online only.  Tickets purchased at the door are $40, online you can get them for $30 and still feel good about supporting a great cause.

The berry's effects are simply amazing.  Apple cider vinegar tasted like silky apple juice.  Limes, oh, the limes.  I don't know if I can adequately explain the soft, sweet taste of limes.  Local celebrity news personality Burton Fitzsimmons and I flavor tripped together with limes.  It was love at first bite.  And Burton was very nice, too.  The limes were in a league of their own, one that made me think of lime flavored sugar glaze that would've been quite interesting on top of the hot pepper relish mini cupcakes provided by MisoHungry.

Don't hesitate, Austin.  Who knows when you'll be offered another opportunity to flavor trip?  Buy your tickets now and find out Friday what all the buzz is about with these little red berries.
