Second half surge leads Reading United over Bohs

Four different goalscorers helped Reading United earn a 4-2 win over the Baltimore Bohemians at Paul Angelo Russo Stadium on Wednesday.

After severe weather in the area delayed kickoff by more than two hours, the teams were finally able to get out on the pitch, and it would be the hosts who would threaten the goal first. On ten minutes, Austin Martz delivered a shot from the edge of the box, but directed it straight at Reading keeper Alexander Bono. Eight minutes later, Mamadou Kansaye's shot from 18 yards was bobbled by Bono, but he was able to pounce on the rebound.

Reading got on the board first after 25 minutes. A cross from the far post by Brett Campbell flew across the six-yard box and found Graham Smith, who tapped the shot home past a stranded Andrew Harris.

The game would remain 1-0 in Reading's favor until the 66th minute, when Baltimore was awarded a penalty. Mamadou Kansaye opened his goal account for the season by slotting the spot kick past Bono's right side.

Six minutes after the equalizer, Reading regained the advantage. A give-and-go breakaway saw Campbell feed Ignacio Maganto, who swooped around Harris and easily slid the ball into the yawning net for a 2-1 lead. Less than a minute later, the visitors would add a third, as Campbell scored this time around. His shot snuck past Harris' lower right corner, hitting the back frame of the goal before popping back into play. There was momentary confusion on the field, but the goal was legitimate, and Reading had their two-goal lead.

Baltimore scored a late consolation goal in the penultimate minute, as a free kick delivered into the box pinballed between multiple players before reaching Marquez Fernandez, who tapped the ball towards the goal, where it barely crossed the line before Bono could reach it.

The visitors tacked on one more of their own seconds before the 90th minute, with Campbell picking up his third assist on a goal from Andrew Morales.

Baltimore (4-5-2) starts their last road swing of the 2014 PDL campaign next Wednesday, as they take on the Northern Virginia Royals.
