Sunday, brought more widespread wind damage across Northern Mississippi, and much of Alabama, after another derecho formed during the early morning hours.

Just 2 days ago, a long lived/tracked derecho swept across Northern Mississippi, knocking down trees and powerlines and producing one tornado.

And a seemingly similar weather situation occurred, Sunday morning, over the same affected counties.

This complex of storms (MCS) moved out of Arkansas into Northern Mississippi and Southwestern Tennessee, early Sunday morning, and  quickly began taking on a bow shape or backwards C shape, which is an indication of strong winds.

Wind damage would begin to be reported,  just south of  Memphis, in Desoto County,  after 7 am, where just 2 days ago, an EF 2 tornado, with winds up to 120 mph,  moved through this area, injuring one person.

A tree was also blown down in the Memphis area, on a trailer, with 3 people inside.  Only minor injuries were reported.

The Storm Prediction Center soon after,  issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for Northeastern Mississippi and Northern Alabama around 9 am,  for the threat of of widespread damaging winds.  And that is exactly what unfolded, as the morning progressed.

Damaging winds with a bow echo, further developed into a derecho,  that would intensify, as it headed into Northern Alabama.

This derecho would move to the east, and then turn southeast across the state of Alabama.

Numerous trees and powerlines were reported down across Northern Mississippi, but the most significant and widespread damage from this derecho, would occur across Alabama, where trees and powerlines were reported down from north to southeast, across Alabama.

The roof of the  old National Standard Building, reportedly collapsed in Shelby County, Alabama. (The building has been vacant for 3 years).  A outbuilding of a house was destroyed, in Tallapoosa County, Alabama.  Montgomery, Alabama reported trees and powerines down in the downtown area.  (These are just a few of the reports)

Over 50, 000 people lost power across Alabama at the height of the storms, and that is in addition to the over 100, 000 that lost power during the derecho on Friday, June 12.

Nine Mississippi Counties reported wind damage: Tishomingo, Lee, Prentiss,  Alcorn, Yalobusha, Desoto, Lowndes, Tate, and  Coahoma

Over 25 Alabama Counties reported wind damage on Sunday.
