Project Color Corps announced today that their second annual “Random Act of Color” initiative was a success. The initiative began in December and encouraged participants to donate warm clothing and accessories such as gloves, hats, scarves and coats in shades of red. As the donations were collected, they were symbolically arranged in the shape of a heart which grew with more and more donations. Non-profit organization Project Color Corps which is based in Berkeley, showed photos of the continually growing heart on their Facebook page and in their twitter feed as the campaign progressed.
Laura Guido-Clark, Founder: “Our goal was for people to express the idea of Spread Red from their own heart. We are so appreciative of everyone’s efforts and moved by the stories and letters from organizations that received collectively over 1900 items of warmth.”
The “Random Act of Color” initiative collected over 1900 items for charity which benefitted 16 local charities and were donated to them on January 2, 2012.
